A podcast about digitalization

In the last few years, we have seen a significant acceleration of the digital transformation journey in Europe. But with more and more new technology coming onto the market at greater speed, it can be difficult for companies to keep track. This is particularly challenging for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB), as indicated by the DESI study conducted by the European Commission. When it comes to the implementation of digital technology, small and medium-sized businesses in Europe fall far behind larger companies. Although 76% of them prioritize digitalization, only one out of two SMBs uses new technology to remain competitive. [1]

A similar trend was revealed by a study conducted by Eurostat; in 2023, 59% of all EU businesses reached a basic level of digital intensity, the share for small and medium-sized businesses was 58%. [2] Compared to 2022, the figures have actually fallen (70% for all EU businesses and 69% for SMBs). [3] A closer look at certain countries in Europe shows that in 2023, the proportion of SMBs with a basic level of digital intensity ranged from 27% in Romania and 28% in Bulgaria to 80% in Sweden and 86% in Finland.

Understand new technologies with a podcast on digitalization

How can small and medium-sized businesses be helped to keep track of new technology that will allow them to benefit from digital transformation? Even if you keep an eye on the sheer number of new types of technology, it’s not always easy to decide which ones are the most suitable for your own business.

COSMOTE, part of the OTE Group, and thus of the Deutsche Telekom Group, understands  this struggle. In 2017, they launched the GROW YOUR BUSINESS initiative, aiming to train SMBs in new technology. This year, COSMOTE launched its podcast about digitalization to support small and medium-sized businesses. The aim is to provide entrepreneurs of SMBs with information about new technologies and trends so that they can manage and expand their business in the best possible way.

COSMOTE’s podcast is hosted by industry expert Eva Epitropaki, who is a passionate small business owner herself. Eva Epitropaki, either on her own or accompanied by special guests who are experts in marketing and technology, shares practical tips, solutions and tools that are beneficial for small and medium-sized businesses. With this podcast on digitalization, COSMOTE has created a comprehensive guide packed with business advice, ranging from developing a business plan and attracting talent to the basic principles of e-commerce, social media and marketing.
