Trenkwalder: Cloud with Telekom

Application Modernization from Telekom helped Trenkwalder move to Microsoft Cloud.

Challenge

“We’ve had data centers in different regions for over 15 years and we understand what it means to operate and maintain them," Pavol Skokan explains, Team Lead International Project Management at Trenkwalder IT Services s.r.o., which provides IT support within the Trenkwalder Group in Europe. “Our focus is on fast and high-quality data processing, flexible work, and providing services like data sharing with clients. But we wanted to focus on these key attributes even more, without having to increase headcount or train employees," Skokan adds.

Solution

Trenkwalder’s management decided to take advantage of a modern solution and migrate their data centers to a secure public cloud like Microsoft Azure. Trenkwalder chose a team of experts from the Deutsche Telekom Group (Slovak Telekom) in Bratislava to partner its smart transition to the cloud. The first step saw Deutsche Telekom’s cloud assessment team use a fully automated tool to analyze Trenkwalder’s IT environment over the course of six weeks. The following project involved moving an internal data hub to the public cloud—Microsoft Azure.

Benefits

Trenkwalder’s data hub is now modern and reliable, running on Microsoft Azure cloud storage. “From a business point of view, completely new opportunities are opening up for us," Pavol Skokan states, noting that “by moving to Azure cloud, the entire data hub is now centralized but still able to process data from multiple sources. Reports are connected and displayed with Microsoft Power BI, and you can connect other custom apps and resources in Azure."
