Scalable Cloud Security

Discover how Greece’s public sector uses SOC Lite to protect the digital infrastructure of more than 200 public sector organizations.

Challenge

Greece’s General Secretariat for Information Systems & Digital Governance (GSIS) needed to secure a rapidly expanding cloud landscape as more than 200 government entities transitioned services to Microsoft Azure. These organizations required a scalable security solution that could provide visibility across environments, ensure policy compliance, and respond to threats in real time. With the institutions varying in size and complexity—from small municipalities to national ministries—the solution also had to be flexible, fast to deploy, and easy to manage with limited resources.

Solution

OTE implemented SOC Lite for GSIS, a streamlined cloud-native security monitoring solution based on Microsoft Defender for Cloud. This managed service included comprehensive Azure and EntraID security assessments, mitigation strategies, and all Defender for Cloud plans. OTE also leveraged in-house Azure DevOps pipelines to automate onboarding for GSIS employees, allowing the solution to be deployed quickly (6 months) across a large number of public entities. Copilot AI for Security was integrated to improve detection and automate remediation, while 24/7 alerts and real-time reporting have allowed organizations to identify and react to threats as they emerge.

Benefits

  • Automated cloud security across more than 200 public sector organizations
  • Consistent policy enforcement and regulatory compliance monitoring
  • Centralized threat detection and incident response with AI-powered insights
  • Fast deployment and onboarding thanks to Azure DevOps automation
  • Improved resilience and operational confidence in digital public services
