The new International Airport Heraklion, Crete, will be the second busiest airport in Greece, as an operational continuity of the existing State Airport of Heraklion, “Nikos Kazantzakis”. Therefore, International Airport Heraklion, Crete, requested a future-proof solution to automate their procurement flow, including budgeted expenses and approvals for the future airport in Crete.

SOLUTION

With COSMOTE, the leading telecommunications provider in Greece, International Airport Heraklion, Crete, gains access to advanced business solutions and quality services. Focusing on optimizing operational flows and document management, operating in a secure environment, the solution uses Microsoft Azure cloud technologies and has been implemented on Microsoft’s Power Apps service platform. But that’s not all: COSMOTE is also shaping the digital infrastructure of the new airport site near Kastelli. With access to the extensive knowledge of Telekom Group, COSMOTE takes a special interest in assisting the airport’s operational teams with the worldwide-approved Total Airport Management Suite.

Heraklion International Airport, “Nikos Kazantzakis”, is the main and busiest airport on the island of Crete, Greece, and the country’s second busiest airport after Athens International Airport. It is located about 5 km east of the main city center of Heraklion and is named after Heraklion native Nikos Kazantzakis, a Greek writer and philosopher. The new airport for Heraklion, located in the southeast of the city at Kasteli, is under construction and due to open by 2027.
