Smart streetlights make places greener. Our solution features solar cells mounted on a luminous ring at the end of the pole with a small wind turbine hidden inside the ring. Electricity generated by wind is then used to illuminate the street, and there’s even energy left over to charge an electric scooter or e-bike. The unit is connected to the grid but always uses any available renewable energy first. Only when the batteries are completely empty does it start consuming energy from the grid. This allows the system to save > 90% compared with regular lighting and even > 60% with standard LEDs. What’s more, we also offer smart benches designed for public spaces. They’re a great piece of smart urban furniture and can even interact with the smart streetlight. Plus, they boast a great range of optional features.

Sensors transmit the data over our worldwide Deutsche Telekom network (LTE-M, Long Term Evolution for Machines) to the cloud. LTE-M is specially designed to provide connectivity for applications on the Internet of Things (IoT). It’s also 5G-ready, boasts very low latency, low power consumption, and high indoor availability for eco-friendly use.
